“Why are you so angry?” the LORD asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.”
Genesis 4:6-7, NLT
How do you react when someone suggests you have done something wrong? Do you move to correct the mistake or deny that you need to correct it? After Cain’s gift was rejected, God have him the chance to right his wrong and try again. But Cain refused.
The next time someone suggests I am wrong, I need to take an honest look at myself and choose God’s way instead of Cain’s.
When I am accused of doing wrong, I can listen and remove the emotion of anger by evaluating any facts in what they say. It can be difficult to control the emotion of anger and would be easy to deny any wrong doing. I cannot control or change another, only myself. I need to choose God’s way, correct any mistake and try again.
Controlling my words and actions makes it easier for me to recognize the truth and make better choices. I can apply this in all aspects of my life – personally, with family and friends as well as in my business with my clients and acquaintances.
