Doing my own due diligence is something I have learned that I need to do when I am faced with any decision. Bigger decisions often require more due diligence.
So don’t go to war without wise guidance; victory depends on having many advisers.
Proverbs 24:6, NLT
In any major decision we make concerning college, marriage, career, children, etc., it is not a sign of weakness to ask for advice. Instead, it is foolish not to ask for it.
I research, read and compile data and information from multiple sources for my due diligence. I try to find good advisers before making any big decision. Advisers can help me expand my alternatives and evaluate my choices with more insight. I look for trusted individuals and those that have expertise in areas that I may not be as strong. Having the information, and enough of it to choose wisely in my decision making, often depends upon guidance from my advisers. Ultimately, I am the one who must take action and live with the consequences of each decision I make – both good and bad.
