Off Road Week 2 – Blazing a New Trail

Off Road Lesson

Think: What are some examples of people taking on big projects without thinking them through?

Reflect: Have you ever tried to do something big without thinking it through? What was the result? What did you learn?

Understand:

Scripture: Romans 12:2

NIV:

2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

MSG:

2Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

KJV:

2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

How easy is it to find yourself conforming to a patter of this world?

What do you think it would take to renew your mind?

Do you have areas in your life in which you think differently than the current culture?

Do you ever feel pressure from people around you?

How do you maintain this difference in the midst of pressure?

Surrender: What part of Scott’s testimony is inspiring and what part is convicting?

How motivated are you to take on a challenge that will will help renew your mind?

    • I did it! I managed to complete my challenge this week. In addition, I was able to memorize 4 of the 5 versus I journal. The verse that spoke to me the most was John 8:30

To the Jews that believed in Him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.”

It made me realize the importance of knowing (memorizing) the teachings relating to my own discipleship.
